Chic-fil-A's Rivalry Restaurant

Image
Because Chic-fil-A is perfect in every way, they came up with a genius way to bring fans together (but still on their own side) by hosting a one-day only “Rivalry Restaurant”.  To celebrate one of the South’s oldest rivalries, Chic-fil-A handed out free sandwiches and treats at a pop-up restaurant on the Georgia/Alabama state line last weekend. They posted the event, which took place on the day of the Georgia-Auburn game, to their official Facebook page, inviting fans from both teams to come out and eat and watch the game on an outdoor screen. This is such a great idea, especially from a marketing perspective, because it proves even more that they care about their customers and it's something creative we haven't seen from a fast food restaurant before. The event was a huge success, bringing in hundreds of fans and proving that only Chic-fil-A can bring even the unfriendly of fans together. I guess the only thing we love more than football is fried chicken!...

KFC Takes Over Twitter

Image
KFC has struck social media marketing gold with their subtle yet genius reference to their famous chicken recipe. In a tweet that has since gone viral, Twitter user @edgette22 pointed out that KFC’s official Twitter account was only following 11 people. Who were those 11 people? “5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb”. The joke is in reference to their famous recipe, which includes 11 herbs and spices. Naturally, Twitter went crazy over the revelation and many called for KFC to give the person in charge of their Twitter a raise. It seems KFC has mastered the subtle sense of humor that Twitter users can’t get enough of, just by waiting for the fans to discover the funny following for themselves. This was a bold move considering that most people don’t pay close enough attention to a fast food Twitter account, much less who they are following. But if we can know Selena unfollowed Justin 5 minutes after the fact, it should be no surprise that Twitter caught on pretty quickly.   ...

Teal is the New Orange

Image
It’s almost trick-or-treating time and while for most kids that means pillowcases full of candy, some kids don’t get to participate because of their food allergies. FARE, Food Allergy Research & Education, has started a social media campaign for kids who have to avoid candy because of their allergies to make sure everyone gets to participate in the fun festivities. FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project® is a worldwide movement to create a safer, happier Halloween for all kids. By putting a teal pumpkin on your doorstep, you are telling trick-or-treaters with food allergies or other conditions that you have non-food treats, like glow sticks or small toys, available that are safe for everyone. Getting involved is easy and their website provides steps for how to take part in the project in your community, with guides for neighborhoods, schools, and small businesses. Last year, 18,000 households nationwide participated in the project, and FARE is encouraging everyone to continue to ...

Miracle Berries That Make Your Tongue Trip??

Image
Recently while scrolling through Facebook, I saw a friend of mine was interested in an event called “Miracle Berry Flavor Tripping Party”. At first I was a little shocked/concerned that said friend was publically sharing that she was going to something called a tripping party, but then I looked into it and what I found was something straight out of a Willy Wonka movie. “Flavor tripping” is has been blowing up on social media and is quickly becoming the newest trend in cool, safe and ~drug free~ fun. So what exactly is it? Miracle berries come from the Synsepalum dulcificum plant, mostly found in West Africa, and contain a protein called miraculin that binds to your taste buds and temporarily numbs them to make sour foods taste sweet. Because it can be difficult to find the actual berries themselves, you can buy them in tablet form (Mberry Miracle Fruit Tablets 10-Count sells for $15 on Amazon). Once the tablet dissolves on your tongue, you can begin to experiment with ...
